The course will combine a brief classroom session with full scale wooden ship construction identification and in field documentation of an authentic 19th century shipwreck (on land).

The course will look at how wooden schooner ships were constructed in the 19th century in the Upper Great Lakes using a mixture of printed materials and practical hands-on survey methods.

The final aspect will be how to apply this information to identify features of wooden shipwrecks within a maritime environment.
